Rainlendar2 Skins

Rainlendar can use two different kinds of skins: xml and ini formats. The ini format is the old skin format that the previous version of Rainlendar used. This document is about the new xml format.

the xml format skins are distributed as .r2skin files. It's a standard zip archive which just has a different extension. Rainlendar is able to read the files directly from the archive so it is not necessary to uncompress the file to install the skin; copying the file to the skins folder is enough. Rainlendar is also able to use the uncompressed version of the skin which is useful when you are creating a new skin. The uncompressed skin must be placed in a separate subfolder in the Rainlendar's skins folder.

The skin must contain a file called skin.xml in the root of the archive (or the skin's folder). The location and naming of the other files can be decided by the skin's creator but it is adviced that you use subfolders to separate the scripts, other xml files, images and whatever the skin archive contains.

The xml and the lua script files need to be saved in utf8 format.

The image files that the skins use should be in png format with alpha channel. You can use also other formats (e.g. jpg, bmp) but since they don't support alpha transparency png format is adviced.
